Beyond The Leotard: Dress Code Etiquette For All Classes
Good to know:
What about other apparel or accessories not mentioned in the dress code chart?
Dancers of any age may not wear:
Dance Bras | Many styles are available; choose one that fits under your leotard or costume without showing. |
Dance Briefs | Dance underwear is specifically cut to fit under a leotard without being seen. Ideal for female dancers who wish to have additional coverage during their period. |
Nude Leotards |
Skin tone leotards that are ideal for additional all-over coverage and support. These are ideal as a base layer under costumes. Dancers who have a costume change during a performance must wear a nude leotard. Some costumes also require a nude leotard. |
Why Is A Dress Code Important?
A dress code...
1) Helps young dancers understand that they are attending a structured class (compared to unstructured playtime).
2) Unifies dancers by identifying them as a part of their studio and level.
3) Allows teachers to see the dancer's lines and establish proper technique.
4) Ensures that clothing is not distracting during class.
5) Ensures that the dancer is appropriately covered.
6) Provides each dancer with matching apparel for performances.
7) Saves parents' time and money. At Pure Dance Works, everything is provided at the studio, and dancers are not trying to keep up with the latest dancewear trends.
