07/07/26 - 07/28/26 (4 weeks)

Dancers must be 5 or 6 years old by July 7 to enroll in Sparkle 5&6 Variety.

Five and six-year-olds explore a new style each week to discover what they love. Classes rotate between ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop.

Bonus: YOU will be confident in your choice of school-year classes after you find out which styles most appeal to your dancer.

This primary-level class is designed for the developmental abilities of five- and six-year-olds and is perfect for beginners and continuing students.

They’ll flourish in an enthralling pretend-play arena as they explore ballet, tap, musical theatre, and hip-hop, learn to use their Dancer Manners, and gain self-confidence.

Benefits

  • Teachers certified in the Leap 'N Learn method intentionally nurture a typical five- and six-year-old physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. Little dancers are never pushed beyond safe physical limits. They learn to be a first-time listener, take turns, and practice impulse control.

  • Students in this class are afforded accelerated emotional intelligence. For many, this is their first independent activity apart from a parent. Gentle teachers are quite effective at helping a shy child choose to walk into the classroom confidently over time.

  • Exciting class activities build school readiness skills. Predicting and remembering patterns is helpful for dance and pre-math skills. Learning basic French ballet terms paired with familiar English terms increases language development.  (eg: "Princess Plié")

  • Props help to engage students while developing an ability to integrate key movement concepts into their performance. For example, dancers may rock a beanie baby side to side as they practice shifting their weight. Colorful shape mats help students identify their place or remind them how to move.

  • Class extension activities are provided weekly as coloring sheets that display one thing the students practiced that day. Dancers collect coloring sheets in their own three-ring binder. They are a perfect conversation starter after class, giving parents the opportunity to facilitate further their child's understanding and retention of class content.

Dress Code | Every student receives the standard class uniform annually as part of your Super Simple Monthly Fees! Alternate leotard or t-shirt styles may be available at an additional cost based on the class level. Only Pure Dance Works logo wear is allowed in class. Shoes are not included but can be fitted and purchased on-site at Reggie’s Shoppe.

For the Summer Sparkle Variety Class, the dress code is slightly different from school year classes:

  • Apparel | Students may wear any combination of Pure Dance Works apparel. Both tops and bottoms must be from Pure Dance Works.

  • Hair | A bun is not required, but hair must be completely secured off the face and neck. Please pin back bangs and side wisps.

  • Please No: Jewelry, accessories, or other clothing may be worn in class.

  • Shoes:
    • Weeks 1 & 2 | Ballet & Theater Jazz: Ballet shoes are recommended, but jazz shoes or socks are acceptable.

    • Week 3 | Tap: Tap shoes are recommended, but ballet shoes, jazz shoes, sneakers, or socks are acceptable.

    • Week 4 | Hip-Hop: Clean sneakers are recommended, but ballet shoes, jazz shoes, or socks are acceptable.

Pro Tip: Ballet shoes or socks are always ok in Summer Variety Classes!
You may ask to look through our boxes of donated ballet, tap, and jazz shoes BEFORE the class date if you want to try and find a pair to borrow for specific classes.
