A weekly, hour long pre-ballet class designed for children who are four years old by October 1 of the school year in which class begins.
Class focuses on pre-ballet, creative movement concepts and pretend play using the Leap 'N Learn curriculum. Students are introduced to basic French terminology of ballet terms. Classes also focus on important social skills necessary for any learning environment including listening to and following instructions, taking turns & respecting others in a loving atmosphere. Imagination abounds in every class...from prince and princess plies to dancing in self space like seaweed or dancing through general space like fish, there's a story line for every activity! Props such as scarves and rhythm instruments facilitate learning concepts, keep dancers' attention and help make class FUN!
This class is designed with the typical physical, social, emotional, & cognitive developmental abilities of 4 year olds in mind. Children must be 4 by October 1 to enroll in Pre-Ballet 2. Because the curriculum is based on the age and corresponding developmental abilities of children in the fall and progresses incrementally throughout the school year, strict adhearance to the age requirement is enforced.
Dress code for 4's is the grape tank or lavender* pinch front tank leotard, ballet pink dance tights and pink leather ballet shoes. All hair must be secured in a bun or pony tail; a bun is prefered for ballet.
*The 4's leotard is transitioning to the lavender tank pinch front this year, however, either grape or lavender are acceptable.
-->Want to take more than one style of dance? Consider our tap and/or musical theatre add-on classes. These 30 minute classes happen immediately before or after ballet to provide young children and families an easy way to manage multiple dance styles. Students MUST be enrolled in a standard length sixty minute class to enroll in add-on classes.
