A weekly, one hour Primary Ballet 2 class for children who are 6 on October 1 of the school year in which the class begins.
Primary Ballet 2 focuses on primary level ballet with greater complexity using the Leap ’N Learn Curriculum. Because play is a child's job and how they learn, pretend play continues to be woven into exercises throughout the class, but in decreased measure compared to younger classes. This class is the beginning of the transition program into the study of classical ballet. Students are now asked to perform many of the exercises turned-out and to combine steps to form a dance combination. Each class will focus on French terminology, musical awareness, creative movement concepts, balance, agility, gross motor development.
This class is designed with the typical physical, social, emotional and cognitive developmental abilities of 6 year olds in mind. Children must be 6 by October 1 to enroll in Primary Ballet 2. Because the curriculum is based on the age and corresponding developmental abilities of children in the fall and progresses incrementally throughout the school year, strict adherence to the age requirement is enforced.
Dress code for 6's is the eggplant pinch front tank leotard, ballet pink tights, and pink leather ballet shoes. Hair must be secured in a bun.
-->Want to take more than one style of dance? Consider our tap and/or musical theatre add-on classes. These 30 minute classes happen immediately before or after ballet to provide young children and families an easy way to manage multiple dance styles. Students MUST be enrolled in a ballet class to enroll in add-on classes.
