Little ballerinas enjoy a week of dancing, crafts and a mini-performance based on the story ballet Cinderella. Story Ballet Camp engages children ages 3-6 as they learn developmentally appropriate pre-ballet technique and explore the main characters in Cinderella through dancing, crafts and educational activity pages. Guided discussions during craft time range from choreographers to conductors to orchestra to dance history to proper nutrition for a dancing body. Students view the full length version of The Royal Ballet's Cinderella over the course of the week while enjoying nutritious snacks each day. In addition, dancers are taught appropriate class room behavior with an emphasis on respecting other dancers, the teachers, and the studio. A short performance for parents will be presented on the last day (Friday, June 23 at 11:20 AM OR 7:05 PM).
Students are separated into age-specific classrooms for the dancing portions of camp. Our developmentally based dance curriculum, Leap 'N Learn, promises success for every dancer because class content is never too easy or too hard; it is "just right."
Please see the Dress Code page for suggested dance wear. If your child will be enrolling in fall classes, consider purchasing her required class-specific leotard, pink dance tights and pink leather ballet shoes to use during camp. Dress code IS relaxed for the summer, however; if your child does not own all of the dress code items, any leotard, dance tights and leather ballet shoes are acceptable for camp. Students may borrow or keep any available items from the Dance Wear Share boxes located in the studio hallway to use during camp. Hair must be in a bun and no jewelry is allowed other than small earrings. No underwewar that show, pelase.
Age requirement: Children must be 5 or 6 as of the first day of camp to enroll in this camp.
